| The first known
method for hollow-ware glass production is 2200 years old, yet
it is still used today! By blowing hot air through a glass blowers
pipe into a mass of molten glass, and rotating that mass at
the same time, we can transform it into an object of unique
beauty. Glass, an elemental material, because it is created
through the mediums of earth, fire, air and water, is intimately
associated with traditional methods of manufacture. The reason
why this method of mouth-blowing and hand crafting glass has
not changed, although today glass is pressed or can be blown
by machine, has nothing to do with sentimentality. The reason
lies in this systems creative flexibility, to fashion
an unending wealth of aesthetical pleasing, unique objects that
can be stunningly simple or complex. In fact the most complex
of objects manufactured from glass, even today, can only be
made by hand. Mouth-blown crystal glass, created under the Zwiesel
1872 brand, always conveys its superior origin, through its
noble weight and elegant design. The trace of fine air bubbles,
captured at the moment of creation, as well as the deep luster,
of the multi-layered colours, are the signs of the luxurious
art of hand crafted creation, ZWIESEL 1872 have learned across
125 years of manufacturing success. |
